Phumuza | Share the Load UK
Phumuza means ‘to ease the burden’ or ‘to share the load’.
We promote community independence by working in conjunction with relevant authorities to assist in creating an environment conducive to the psycho, social, and moral development of the child.
We promote a “give back” policy. We seek to train and help the children gain skills so that they can improve their lives and give back to the community in which they live.
We help orphans and children from disadvantage backgrounds with educational assistance in the form of stationery, textbooks, uniforms and fees.
We concentrate our charitable work Insiza Rural District Council, in Matabeleland South, Zimbabwe
Our Mission & Vision
Phumuza Share The Load UK’s objective is provide relief and prevention of poverty in Insiza Rural District Zimbabwe, in particular but not exclusively by making grants to pay for school fees and other educational resource for children whose families are unable to afford such fees, so that they may receive an education that will enable them to generate a sustainable income and become self-sufficient. These resources include textbooks, pencils, pens, toys, football kits, uniforms and low-tech machinery including sewing machines. The trustees liase with statutory bodies, village committee and schools to identify children and young people whose background indicates a need for support so that they may receive an education that will enable them to generate a sustainable income and become self-sufficient.
As a Registered Charity Phumuza is accountable to our supporters, stakeholders, the families and the children.
Education is our Goal
Our main focus is on children, however we also help the community in which the children live. We concentrate on health, education and reconstruction projects based on the principle of self help. We try not to run projects, but work in partnership to give support to local initiatives, and for them to develop their skills.
Sustainability & Independence
We promote community independence with self help initiatives, such as making school uniforms, at very low prices, making sanitary pads for free distribution. The chicken project which allowed chickens and eggs to be sold. Additionally the goat project allowed families to raise money for school uniforms from the sale of the goat. This was funded by income from Phathisanani Sewing Project.
